Well, if y'all like it, you can probably buy the mat at Walmart and have it expertly framed at a cost more than the mat, but probably still under $500. Weezy

Great pic of a smaller, framed rain painting by Lucien Smith - Does anyone know the price range for his paintings?

that thing is so cute. baby rain painting. figure it's a cut down section salvaged from a large canvas that he wasn't entirely pleased with. interesting that half gallery posted it.

So has anyone been able to purchase any work by lucien? I stopped by the OHWOW tent during Art Basel and got to see an incredible rain painting in person. Spoke with one of the gallery reps and he stated that is was sold prior to the show opening..... I asked if there was any other work available and I was told that there is a rather long waiting list.... I really like this work, hopefully Lucien will have a solo show next year.

Here's another Lucien Smith rain painting picture from the exhibitionA blog. From what I understand he's been making these at studio space in upstate New York. I'm curious if it's the same studio Dan Colen was doing his grass stain canvases, given Lucien's relationship with Colen I think it is very possible. I like like the potential synergy.

Know he's been living and working half way up 87 to Albany, around Athens, NY. Could be where Colen worked previously too. Not sure. That's actually an old shot of a piece he did in early Nov. Looks like it's quite literally getting rained on. How fitting. Here's a recent shot that shows some of the new series of 16x20 and 20x24s he finished a little while back, based around the earlier 20x24 he produced as the reference for his Exhibition A print.

Honestly, what of his work doesn't have a 'Dan Colen feel' at this point? I think Smith might be interesting once he gets beyond his influence.

It feels just so fucking lazy and uninspired. Haven't we seen all this before?

Not that there is anything wrong with foresight, but let's call a spade a spade. There is an easy 10k in these pieces.

I don't understand your post Scott. Are you talking profit?
I have to agree that the Cheerios piece isn't his finest. Too similar to Colen's M&Ms.

The Cereal box piece is not for sale, the cherio canvas is $4500 and 30/36"

I think the question this keeps raising for me is, "When was the last time Dan Colen was interesting at all?"
It's been years and years, IMO. Snow is dead, Colen is boring, McGinley gets older, and all hope for 'Warhol's Children' rests on Lowman.
