www.phillips.com/detail/TAUBA-AUERBACH/UK010413/3up for auction at Phillips Contemporary Art Evening Sale in London on 6/27 Fold XV acrylic on canvas 152.4 x 121.9 cm. (60 x 48 in.) Signed, titled and dated 'UNTITLED (FOLD) XV TAUBA AUERBACH 2010' on the overlap. Estimate £200,000 - 300,000 sold for uk386,500 (which google says is $588k). great result. the Christies sale of a smaller fold yesterday (46x38 vs 48x60) went for almost $200k more. my guess is buyers preferred the subtlety of the smaller work, which looked from the video to reward close inspection, over the earlier folds with the more obvious trompe l'oeil. & maybe the result reflects some premium for sales Christies over Phillips.

I would attribute it more to the buyers that each house attracts.

Standard has posted photos of the show, which includes new plywood floor pieces called "The New Ambidextrous Universe" I & II. reminds me of Maya Lin's topography works and 60s/70s minimalism floor pieces. anyone have any insight on these?

looking at the pictures, and thinking about this, i imagine these are like magic carpets and that Tauba's reordering of what looks like a 4x8' piece of plywood creates some optical effects from both the wave-like pattern Tauba has imposed on the wood and also the distortion in the plywood patterns from these adjustments. would love to see these in person to confirm & see what else pops out. Standard has posted photos of the show, which includes new plywood floor pieces called "The New Ambidextrous Universe" I & II. reminds me of Maya Lin's topography works and 60s/70s minimalism floor pieces. anyone have any insight on these? in other news, i saw Tauba is in a new show at the Whitney - test patterns - highlights from their recent acquisitions. their website doesn't list Tauba in the collection yet, but this install image from the Whitney looks like they got a weave piece. given that MoMA is currently showing a fold from their collection, that makes it at least two top NY museums currently showing her work in recent acquisitions shows.

Anyone have any opinions on the new Ghost/Ghost 3D piece? was offered one by a gallery in NYC, but apparently it was just released.
