I'd just like to highlight, "Here’s a brief history of Lucien Smith art star! Lucien first became Aurel Schmidt’s bitch, then the junkie groupie of Dash Snow, then he sucked Dan Colen's pussy, then licked Jeanne Greenberg-Rohatyn ass, and for a finale he had group sex with David and Marlene Zwirner to become a made man and art world darling"

Can't be real

It is real. Whether anyone here is a fan of Lucien's work or not, one would have to agree that this is just plain disgusting. For any parent to write, let alone say any of the things that were printed about their own child is appalling. A real man would own his mistake and apologize for what had happened in the past. Not turn the tables to try and gain notoriety of his own work by bashing his son, who is clearly more successful. Just my 2 cents

Do you know more about this situation? I find it sad that a relationship could have decayed, particularly between parent and child but struggle to judge either party knowing so little about it...

I personally don't know the father/son relationship, though the backlash of descriptive name calling is what bothers me. I listened to the TEDx talk and only heard Lucien describe what he experienced when he was young. I didn't hear him go any further than that... Putting yours or myself in his shoes, regardless of art's sake, having your father verbally abuse you on the internet the way TS did is unmoral.

I'll agree what he said is off putting but you know it's hardly surprising to me that this kind of negativity keeps popping up around Lucien. I don't feel like this came out of nowhere. His father might think they're nothing alike but I think the apple didn't fall that far from the tree.

Is this list meant to be damage control management? Collectors seemed worried about how many rain paintings Smith had produced so perhaps this is to assure them that there are no more of them being made? It's an usual list for an artist so young to put out. Sort of a Lucien Smith catalog raissone that someone advised him to publish.

As a guy who tries to shoehorn as many catalogue raisonnes into his bookshelf as possible, I love this and wish more artists would do this(especially on the web, because my love of the raisonne is pricey - lol)

I like the transparency of this. Takes power out of exclusive, secretive galleries. As an aside, I really like his new direction. Very Doig. Shows real talent and craft and sensitivity.
