I think the whole Forbes 30 under 30 thing can be taken with a grain of salt. It's definitely a cool little group to be included in, but the whole list is made from 3 judges. Hardly something to bet the farm on or collect for that specific reason. True. But Dietch seems to be the main one if the 3 speaking for the arts side of things in that list. Regardless of the recent belly aching by people about his role at MOCA he still seems to be held in high regard by many artists and collectors. Not to mention the fact that he has a lead role in a top museum in a major art market. I should buy this crap because some guy I never met thinks the artist has potential?

Re-read the quoted passage, then re-read your question and think about why you missed the entire point. Good luck.

From MoMA:
Sara Greenberger Rafferty's (b. 1978) artwork is informed by slapstick and stand-up comedy, as well as photography and conceptual art. Theatrical elements such as props, sets, and stages are the building blocks of a visual vocabulary that revolves around jokes and gags, performance and the absurd. Pies ready to be thrown, lone microphone stands and spotlights allude to a show that is about to begin or one that was just missed.
This is Greenberger Rafferty's first museum exhibition. She has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, most recently at Artists Space, New York; Capsule Gallery, Denver; Marvelli Gallery, New York; Andrew Kreps Gallery, New York; and Champion Fine Arts, Culver City, Los Angeles. She received a M.F.A. from Columbia University in 2005 and currently lives and works in New York.

I must be missing something here.

my statement was tongue in cheek.
Sara's work is quite varied if you do some looking. She has a interesting way of looking at the world. Worth doing a bit of looking when you have some time.

If this guy gets "big" anytime soon based on his output to date I will lose all faith in the art world. Have to agree. I very much enjoy what I learn from being a member of Artchival and reading others insights. But this morning, as I sat with my new puppy (Andre the Giant) and slowly worked through the last 13 pages of jpegs and commentary, frequently leaving this site to follow Internet leads to shows and critiques, I came to realize that Lucien's art doesn't excite me, doesn't leave me filled with wonder or awe, and certainly doesn't motivate me to see more. It is obviously just my opinion, but his art as a body of work is more a statement about income inequality and conspicuous consumption than anything else. I don't like artist bashing, so I won't write much more, but I have to add that as i read through this thread, my thoughts kept turning to Malcolm Gladwell's book Outliers. Success is often as much about being in the right place at the right time as it is about extraordinary ability. I think I'll put Lucien in my mental Rolodex under The Emperor Has No Clothes ... Note the irony here? He put a gym mat on the wall to evoke nostalgia, and I used the term Rolodex to describe it?

V, is this a book, a litho, image, an image kind of "stand up sculpture"?
Can't quite tell, to be honest. It does seem to have a metallic stand...

May 8th. The Suzanne Geiss Company is pleased to present an exhibition by Lucien Smith of brooms and Polaroids. Motivated by the transformations of downtown New York during the reign of former mayor Rudolf Giuliani, Smith has assumed the task of documenting the relics of a bygone New York. Through a series of categorical Polaroids and a sculptural installation, Smith remembers the once raw cityscape that was smoothed in favor of gentrification. www.suzannegeiss.com/#!/exhibitions/?exhibitid=132
