congrats to weezy. good to read you got what you wanted. that's not always the case with an auction.
svenman, the ballantyne went to an in person bidder for 5K. it was a really nice painting. sorry you didn't get it.

i don't know that the static photos and the paulson etchings can be compared to each other. tauba, yes. editions, yes. but that's about it.
good luck with the hunt. they're beautiful.

i get the feeling this show is going to change things. it's going to be big. barry's on an upswing, from an already consistent build.
it's a good time in the world.

ahh....polaroid. i hope i never know how much money i've peeled away with the old school polaroid film. years ago i transformed an old broken polaroid land camera into a pinhole camera. lots of fun, lots of film. good luck with your hunt. have fun!

wow. that's really beautiful. i just love how he continues to evolve the cluster works. from this early cluster, to the red and white number/letter ones he's done this year. they're all amazing.

Emphasis was on the all as in even out of state bidders. Weak. wow. talk about "weak".

i agree with dollardaze, don't buy art.
except at the headlands auction, of course.

i understand you question, and position. with not knowing all the factors, i can speak only from my own history. i haven't sold many works out of my collection. a few have moved on in order to help with new works coming in. in each case, i was very thoughtful, and didn't act out of emotion. i've never looked back with regret. where i have looked back with regret is with "the ones that got away".
ahh.....the ones that got away......

there's some quality work in that auction. i could be wrong, but this seems to be the first time i've seen barry place a fully realized cluster in a fund raising auction.

well said, juggernut3. i've been nodding along with many of these recent well composed comments. and not that it matters, but i was mentioned earlier so, i'll simply say that i actually respond more to her early works. the auctioned off alphabet piece being one that i greatly admire. i will agree that her fold series took her to a higher level. i'm enjoying watching her art evolve, and her career grow.
