as a gardener, and plant nerd, i really hate it when i see bamboo used for fantasy projects. bamboo is a grass. it needs A LOT of water to sustain itself. especially in a container. it's not a good choice for a sun-baked, windy, and most importantly, limited root zoned bilboard application. it's a great choice for a painting, a photoshopped image, or a concept piece to tickle the fancy of the viewer, "yeah..wouldn't that be awesome. bamboo gardens instead of advertisements!"
yes, it would be awesome. but when it dies, or starts to look half dead. that's not pretty. that's just sad. i really wish they could go that extra mile and find some plantings that could actually work. what? they've talked with some bamboo growers? some bamboo growers that stand to make money if this project goes through. hell yeah they said it would work. if they want to buy it, they're going to sell it to you.
don't get me wrong, i like the concept. i just hate that they want to use bamboo. i vote no.

that's a great little movie. eye candy for days. ugh....that black book with every page so good!!
i checked it out on you tube, and then saw in the margin a video on flea from the chili peppers. loved that he was wearing a neck face t-shirt. the flea video is about his silverlake conservatory of music. kinda touching. it's cool when artists give back.

He lacked courage to compete on an even playing field. when everyone your racing against is doping, where's the "even playing field"....? not that i condone doping. or lying. or cheating. or feel at all bad that he's in a shit storm right now. it's just that i see his cancer fundraising as so much more important than all this. cancer is no joke. and if his personal drama is equated with a lacking in funding research for something that is so needed, then i'll be even more sad.

the man did what all top level athletes did (and possibly still do) ..... he used all tools at his hands to reach his goals of winning. this can't come as a shock to everyone. what was it, something like 19 of the top 20 riders in the tours he won were eventually found to have doped? i say, "what-ever!!"
his work with cancer, the arts, and his current life have little to do with all this. he's earned his spot on the board of the aspen museum.
what if we fired all board members when we have found out they lied in the past?
lance is ok with me.

That 2nd cluster is incredible and possibly the first time we've seen something truly new from Barry in some years. Are they photographs or paintings? y'all know it's a group show right? barry is just one of 8 DFW's in the booth. www.flickr.com/photos/icesack/8001979392

correction to commandax...it was the 2008 election. not 2010. 2010 was the year the tea party started sinking the ship. 2012 will be the year i lose all faith in the american electoral system. it's a joke.
and to keep it art related, i personally enjoyed the arts involvement in 2008. there was a surging wave of "hope" and it was all inclusive. i believe there isn't an involvement from the artists this go round because all "hope" has been washed away. i wonder what the denver convention artists would say to this idea.

i would agree that they work pretty well as groupings. i really like the simple geometric/green duo. and the bottom grouping is interesting to me as well.

these two new paintings make 3 no-color bouquet paintings that i've seen paul paint. there's something really interesting happening with them. i see paul's painting styles really showing through. stepping away from color while painting a subject that is so connected to color works for me. i imagine these could look amazing on the right wall.

that's a fun new art blog. i'm really into the other artists featured. especially orion shepherd. he's good. (though i like his other bodies of art more than what's shown on the blog)
it's cool to see palladino's paintings and 3-D works in process.

i'm not sure if i respect lucien for only making art that makes me say, "i could have made that!!" of if he bothers me for only making art that i feel that i could have made.

Although San Francisco tried its best to have it go elsewhere........... not exactly the story. s.f. didn't give a green light for a dedicated art museum to be built specifically for the collection. in sf, try these galleries... not sure your art tastes, but this is a good list.. ratio3 park life steven wolf eli ridgway guerrero gallery eleanor harwood john berggruen white walls the shooting gallery needles and pens fecal dot gallery mollusk many galleries in the 49 geary building as well as the 77 geary building sfmoma jewish contemporary museum yerba buena center for the arts (they have a good d. shrigley show) the de young legion of honor good luck, and have fun!!

They have very little control over the secondary market. Now you know that is a completely false statement. Tightening primary supply, choosing the population who can purchase at primary, exerts huge influence over the secondary market. having current control is possible. having control of works that sold 5-8 years ago, not possible. (i always enjoy reading the verbage that's generated after a high auction result. better than saturday sports.)
